Dr. Prakash Durga Devarakonda: A Trailblazer in Healthcare Innovation and Advocacy

Humble Beginning

Dr. Durga Prakash Devarakonda had begun his journey in a small village in southern Andhra Pradesh. When he was only a year old, he lost his father. His mother, who had studied till 5th grade, became a pensioner. He attended local medium and government schools while growing up in a low-income family and was mentored by his three older siblings.

His academic prowess allowed him to successfully complete both his Master’s in Information Technology and Electrical Engineering degrees. His accomplishment of becoming the youngest Indian to earn every Microsoft certification at the age of 21 set him apart from prior accomplishment narratives, earning him a commendation from Bill Gates.

Professional Journey

When he was engaged as the Managing Principal Consultant at Capgemini Invent, his main career opportunity began. He even joined Oracle as a Senior Consultant in 2000, where he played one of the most significant responsibilities, including carrying out the business plan and expanding the team to 300 individuals with a $350 million USD revenue. He additionally worked for other global companies.  

He had a vice-presidency position at Accenture. In 2013, after three years, he joined Tech Mahindra, a world leader in analytics, cyber security, and artificial intelligence. The largest financial services company in India, Karvy Analytics, employed him as its chief executive officer.

Current Role

Currently, Dr. Durga is leading the Carelon global for Artificial Intelligence and Innovation. Experts in the disciplines of cloud, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation make up his team. He is a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Head, and Senior Vice President.

His business, a Global Capability Centre of Technology, cares for 110 million people worldwide in terms of health. In the past 25 years, Dr. DP has made contributions to the Indian I.T. & ITES industry that have resulted in the creation of over 20,000 employment in association with a number of M.N.C.s and NASSCOM/HYSEA. A business dignitary today is Dr. Durga Prakash. Beginning as a Managing Principal Consultant in Capgemini Invent and continuing with Accenture, Oracle, and Tech Mahindra, Dr. Durga’s journey has been remarkable.

His areas of expertise include big data, artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, and healthcare. He presently serves as Staff Vice President – Technology and a member of Legato Health Technologies’ Senior Leadership Team.

Achievement and Recognitions

He contributed to the development of JD Edwards ERP and worked with MunichRE, the largest reinsurance company in the world, to create end-to-end software for their reinsurance business. As he created some of the most complex algorithms to anticipate the risk to insure any potential risk, regardless of the insurance that the MNCs were providing, his name became synonymous in the global reinsurance industry.

Dr. Durga Prakash has received numerous honours and honours, which are like feathers on his golden crown. He was honoured by both chambers of Parliament with the renowned Mahatma Gandhi International Leadership Award for his services to the world of healthcare. He is a well acknowledged authority in the fields of computer vision, natural language processing, semantics and ontology, deep learning, and machine learning. Additionally, he contributed to the creation of frameworks that are currently under patent for “Autonomous Health Systems and Personal Health Assistants.”

At major A.I. conferences like A.I. World and Open A.I., he has frequently spoken and contributed. Additionally, he finished an executive education programme on “Managing and Transforming Professionals” at Harvard Business School. He was recently recognised as a Visionary for founding and growing India-based Global Capability centres for Fortune 100 businesses in Forbes India Tycoons of Tomorrow.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports, Culture, and the Government of India recognised him as one of India’s Global Achievers of 2021. In addition, Dr. Durga organised the world’s largest digital event, in which 100,000 people met to pray via the video conferencing app “Zoom,” earning her entry into the Guinness Book of World Records in 2018.

DP has received awards from the most prestigious international venues for his pioneering work in advancing technology in the nation and around the world, including the Global Achievers Forum Award in 2021, the GCC Visionary Award in 2021, and the Mahatma Gandhi International Leadership Award from the UK Parliament in 2018.

Giving Back to Society

Among the 5 million IT professionals in India, he stands out as a towering figure. He shares his industry contributions after being persuaded to do so: “In the last 25 years, he has directly produced more than 20,000 highly paid Software Engineering positions in India, and he have assisted thousands of others in pursuing better careers.

He also worked with a lot of colleges, universities, and schools to assist them develop the correct curricula and exposure to other cultures so they could navigate this complex world. For one prominent Global Indian business school, he was instrumental in creating some top-notch leadership and business analytics courses. He has also served as the head of several prestigious business and engineering schools, both in India and abroad, because he is adamant that India can become the hub of world opportunities with the right encouragement and “helping hand.”

Future Plans

Economic cycles are being automated and accelerated by new technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning, and block chains. India is well known for being at the nexus of the vulnerability of the affordability crisis and cutting-edge technology.

Dr. Durga Prakash Devarakonda freely accepts it as his highest mission to establish all these revolutionary technologies and alter the landscape of Indian healthcare providers with useful advancements.
